Applications are now open for The Grierson Trust's 2020 Training and Mentoring Scheme
With support from the UK's leading independent factual production companies, The Rank Foundation and Netflix, The Grierson Trust's 2020 DocLab training scheme is now open for applications. This year the scheme will be extended to 16 participants who will all have the opportunity to apply for two 3-month placements with Netflix.
Jane Callaghan, Managing Director of The Grierson Trust said: "With our new partnership with Netflix and the continued support the Rank Foundation and a host of indie production companies, DocLab will be even bigger and better for 2020. With an additional 4 places to offer and extra work placements, DocLab is the definitive training opportunity for young factual filmmakers who wouldn't normally manage to get their foot through the door. Our current mentees span the country from Hartley in Kent to Glasgow. Now we're on the lookout for a new cohort of young people who are passionate about factual television, from nature documentaries to reality TV; short-form content to feature docs and everything in between. We are looking for individuals who have ideas about how they can contribute to the industry, and who can offer fresh perspectives that are not currently reflected on-screen or behind the scenes."
From learning basic camera skills to pitching a concept, this is a chance for 16 aspiring filmmakers to turn their documentary passion into reality.
Since 2012, DocLab has enabled 82 young people to explore documentary making. The scheme continues to go from strength to strength with alumni making their way in the industry as filmmakers, editors, researchers, directors and so on.
