A Real Stories Podcast produced by Little Dot Studios in partnership with The Grierson Trust

We're thrilled to partner with Little Dot Studios on The Doc Exchange: A Real Stories Podcast.

The podcast is hosted by writer and journalist June Jennings, who currently serves as the engagement and partnerships manager for Field of Vision, First Look Media’s award-winning documentary unit.

The first episode, published Thursday 12 November 2020 – the same day as Grierson 2020: the British Documentary Awards – sees June interview BBC Grierson Trustees’ Award recipient, Asif Kapdia. They discuss three documentaries related to the 1970’s. From political context to personal archives to depicting icons in their prime, discover which films informed Kapadia's own preoccupations when making Senna, Amy and Diego Maradona.

A new episode will be published each week. Upcoming guests include the filmmakers behind The Great hack, Crip Camp, Untouchable: The Rise and Fall of Harvey Weinstein, Tiger King and Honeyland.

Find The Doc Exchange on Acast, Apple, Spotify or wherever you listen to your podcasts.

In each episode, Jennings will interview subjects about their life and career through the lens of three thematically-united documentaries that have had a lasting impact on them. She’ll probe how they discovered these films, why they have the meaning they do and how that has manifested in their own documentary filmmaking.

“We at The Trust are delighted that we’re working with our new digital broadcast partners, Little Dot Studios, to launch The Doc Exchange: A Real Stories Podcast. The British Documentary Awards are all about celebrating the best of documentary filmmakers in the UK and abroad, and this podcast will be a fresh platform to talk in-depth with the masters of their craft. We can’t wait to take a deep dive into the films and programmes that have inspired them, delighting seasoned documentary fans and newcomers alike.” - Jane Callaghan, Managing Director of The Grierson Trust.

Paul Woolf, executive editor of Real Stories, added, “Real Stories is committed to premium factual storytelling across mediums, and we’re thrilled to be expanding our offerings through podcasts to reach our growing audience. Grierson Trust is a prestigious organization committed to supporting non-fiction content and documentary films that aligns with our vision and commitment to non-fiction and documentary content.”
