Charley spent four weeks working across different departments during her placement
After spending a month at Minnow Films, I’m so sad to be leaving this week. The placement has been above and beyond my expectations, I’ve learned so much and every single person I’ve worked with has been so helpful and friendly. Minnow placed me with a different team every week, meaning I’ve been able to experience so much in a short space of time. My first two weeks were spent with two different productions, the third week with development and the last with SAS: Who Dares Wins.
I’ve been able to vastly improve my research skills with each team, whether that’s researching and summarising a true crime story for the development team, sourcing potential filming locations or finding old social media posts to use for archive purposes. I’ve also learned how to cast people to feature in a documentary - how to find people through social media, how to write good access emails and have also been sitting in on casting Zoom calls. I’ve also been offered the chance to sit in on an edit in person in the future, if/when Covid calms down a bit!
Overall, I’ve come away with so many new skills that I can bring to future roles, built up my confidence and have also gained so many contacts to stay in touch with in the future. I’ve really felt like part of the team and I can’t thank everyone involved enough for the opportunity!
