Even working remotely, Daniel sat in on an edit and completed lots of research
I’m really surprised at just how much learning was fitted into my placement, thanks especially to Meridian and Louisa at Dragonfly who made sure that I had plenty of things to do the whole time I was there. Working from home really wasn’t a drawback as I got to sit in virtually on the edit of one show, research for an upcoming true crime series as well as learn about how to do archive research, which is an area that I’ve always wanted to get a chance to work in.
My favourite part of the placement was just getting to work on the type of shows that I would watch and enjoy. It was a really great experience getting to see how different types of shows go from development through to pre-production, shooting and editing. I could go on for ages about how good these productions all look – but have had to sign multiple NDAs!
All in all I couldn’t recommend Dragonfly enough as a workplace, I worked on so many different productions but everyone without fail was super helpful and really keen that I take away some positive learning from what I did rather than just do some heavy lifting for them.
