The Grierson DocLab core training programme, with support from The Rank Foundation, is now open for applications!
Aimed at new entrants to documentary and factual TV, the training programme will provide 12 successful candidates with the knowledge, confidence, skills and networks to take their first steps into the industry.

Grierson DocLab takes place over the course of approximately a year and includes:
- Intensive training at a residential and online
- A trip to Sheffield Doc/Fest
- A bursary-supported work placement at a production company
- An industry mentor match
- CV advice and career coaching
… and much, much more.
Who should apply?
If you’re UK-based, aged 18-25 and have a passion for documentaries but don’t quite know where to start, this is the programme for you.
We’re looking for applicants interested in exploring a variety of new entrant roles – people who have fresh perspectives, creative ideas and a positive, can-do attitude towards the programme and their career in TV to apply.
We especially welcome applications from individuals from under-represented groups (like the LGBTQ+ community, disabled people, those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, ethnic minority backgrounds and more).
