Grierson DocLab Alumni in the spotlight
July was a big month for alumni from the various Grierson DocLab programmes, with numerous past trainees working on documentaries shortlisted for the Grierson Awards and no less than six named as Broadcast Hot Shots for 2023

On 20 July, we announced the 51st British Documentary Awards shortlist, after a record year for entries. We’re delighted that Grierson DocLab Alumni worked on various films shortlisted this year – some of which were in multiple categories.

- Eloise Millard (2018 cohort) Assistant Producer at BBC Studios Documentary Unit – Inside Our Autistic Minds (shortlisted in Best Constructed or Formatted Documentary Series and Best Science Documentary)
- Chandler Pierre (2020) Researcher at BBC Studios Documentary Unit – Fight the Power: How Hip Hop Changed the World (Best History Documentary and Best Music Documentary)
- Eleanor Wight (2016) Development at Candour Productions – Libby, Are You Home Yet? (Best Documentary Series)
- Jess Gell (2020) worked on marketing of the film at Foxtrot Films Ltd – Eric Ravilious Drawn to War (Best Arts Documentary)

Grierson DocLab Alumni: Eleanor Wight, Eloise Millard, Robbier Hunter, Will Hewitt, Acelya Kancelik and Ira Putilova – all made the Broadcast Hot Shots 2023 list.
